There are plenty of good hotels in Madonna di Campiglio, but few can compete with the Hotel Lorenzetti when it comes to the view. Set in a quiet, elevated position above the village, the panorama of the Brenta Dolomites from the rooms, the restaurant and the sun terrace is genuinely breathtaking. It is the kind of setting that makes you put your phone down and just stare. The hotel sits about 1km from the village centre and main ski lifts, but a free shuttle runs throughout the day, dropping you at the slopes in minutes and bringing you back when you are done. It works well and takes the sting out of not being slope-side.
Rooms are finished in a warm alpine style with a touch of elegance that sets them apart. All come with balconies, minibar, satellite TV, safe and free Wi-Fi, and are soundproofed throughout. The suites are worth a look if you want to treat yourself, with separate bedrooms and living areas, Viennese or Tyrolean detailing, and some of the best Dolomite views you will find from any hotel room in resort. Even the classic doubles are well proportioned and comfortable.
The restaurant is one of the highlights. Dinner is a gourmet affair, drawing on local Trentino traditions with a refined international touch, all served in a panoramic dining room that makes the most of those mountain views. Breakfast features homemade cakes, pastries and hot drinks. After dinner, the piano bar and furnished terrace are the kind of places where you end up staying longer than you planned, drink in hand, mountains in front of you.
The spa is free for all guests and genuinely impressive. There is a heated indoor pool, hydromassage, Finnish sauna, Turkish bath, Kneipp therapy path, a relaxation area with views and a well-equipped TechnoGym gym. Massages and treatments are available to book on top. Other facilities include a lounge, reading room, games room, garden, ski storage and covered parking. The staff are attentive without being overbearing, and the personal touch from the Lorenzetti family gives the place a warmth that bigger hotels often lack.
