Hotel L’Aigle du Montana

Sitting pretty at 2,100 metres altitude in Tignes Le Lac, Hotel L’Aigle du Montana has one very handy thing going for it, the slopes are basically outside the door. It’s ski-in, ski-out, with lifts nearby to get you off exploring the massive Tignes Val d’Isère ski area. And when you’re finished making questionable decisions about “one last run”, the hotel’s peaceful setting is a very welcome place to come back to. Close to the action when you want it, nice and quiet when you don’t.

Inside, it’s got proper cosy mountain chalet vibes. Think natural stone, wooden beams and plenty of warmth with splashes of colour stopping things from getting too serious. The bedrooms are snug and welcoming, exactly what you want after a full day on the mountain. Downstairs, there’s a cosy lounge and log fire waiting for you. Boots off, feet up, job done.

And there’s plenty to keep you occupied once the skis are away. Have a dip in the heated indoor pool, warm yourself back up in the sauna or go all in with a treatment at the spa. There’s also a restaurant, bar and lounge for easy evenings, plus a terrace with cracking views across the village and mountains. Ski lockers, boot warmers, free WIFI and laundry services take care of the practical stuff too. Because nobody wants to start the morning by putting on cold ski boots.
