Ski Holidays Winter Park, USA
USA

Winter Park now offers an ideal ski and snowboard destination with a wealth of tree-skiing and powder. Sitting across the Continental Divide, high in the Rockies, Winter Park provides an excellent ski area of three large mountains plus an inviting bowl area that the residents have successfully kept secret. Winter Park has recently joined the increasing number of US ski resorts sought out by Irish and British skiers and boarders but it still retains a friendly small-town feel. Being Denver’s closest major ski area, Winter Park is an affordable, convenient resort with a choice of over 50 bars or restaurants and offers friendly service combined with the laid back atmosphere.
With an average of 350 inches of fresh snow every winter, reputably the most in Colorado, and almost 700 acres of off-piste and tree skiing to enjoy it on, this is powder heaven. In recent years millions have been spent upgrading and improving the resort as a whole and recent visitors are saying that the facilities are better than ever.
The Snow
Nearly 3,000 acres of terrain at Winter Park means it can be said that there is something for all levels of skier in this resort. From the easy greens on the lower slopes of Winter Park Mountain to the Vasquez Ridge at the top of Pioneer Express which offers perfect intermediate skiing and onto Mary Jane for black diamond chutes and tree runs that will wear out your knees and burn up your quads. For outstanding views that give a true sense of skiing in the wilderness, ride the Timberline to Parsenn Bowl, at 12,060 this is true high alpine skiing. Wide empty spaces, beautiful glades and a landscape of cinematic proportions.
With the opening of Vasquez Ridge, skiers now have access to the exciting Cirque area giving Winter Park nearly 700 additional acres of double-black diamond terrain. After a typically massive Winter Park snowfall, make for Parsenn Bowl if you like powder: and there's a wealth of tree skiing, particularly off the top of Mary Jane and below Vasquez Cirque. Boarders will also be delighted to find an excellent terrain park and the huge ‘Vertigo’ half pipe, recently voted by Snowboard UK as the ‘Best in Colorado’.
Après ski
The après-ski and nightlife of Winter Park has been described as easy-going and good value by many past visitors. There are a number of good restaurants and shops in the Village (where the majority of the accommodation is located) and the original and authentic town of Winter Park is located just over a mile by free shuttle bus. The town itself offers a more varied and lively choice of après-ski bars, an excellent collection of microbreweries, live music saloons and lounge bars. With over 30 restaurants to choose from, Winter Park has an exceptional choice of dining options.
For those still not tired after a full days skiing why not tryout moonlight snowmobiling, ice skating, and dog sledding which are just some of the other non-skiing activities offered.
If it is pampering that you are after the excellent Hot Springs Resort has recently been modernised and has seventeen outdoor and four indoor pools plus varied treatments on offer.
