Innsbruck
Twice host to the Olympic games, this historic university town is ideal for those who want to experience some culture along with their skiing. Featuring a vast array of attractions from Museums, concert halls and zoo to shopping in the pedestrianised medieval centre, Innsbruck is the perfect city break destination with the added bonus of top quality skiing.
Steinach
This family friendly resort offers a snow guarantee and sunny prepared slopes. A not to be missed experience is skiing from the ‘Bergeralm’ mountain into the valley by floodlight, it’s unforgettable.
Adelboden
Adelboden is at an altitude of 1400m above sea level and has a population of 3650. It is a beautiful location in the western part of the Bernese Oberland and is surrounded by mountains. Its favorable climate, stunning scenery and relaxed informal atmosphere make for a truly memorable stay. Attractive bars, cafés and restaurants line the main village street. No stay is complete without a visit to the mineral water factory, library, museum of folklore and rural life and the church which dates back to the 17th century.
Itter
Itter is only 5km (or a 10 minute bus ride) away from the well known resort of Söll. Much smaller and quieter than neighbouring Söll, you’ll find that prices are much lower here. The village nestles at the foot of the Hohe Salve mountain (1,829m), one of Tirol’s most beautiful peaks.

This is a suitable analogy to use for one of Europe’s finest and most reputable ski resorts, St. Anton. Set in the Arlberg region, St. Anton also embraces the villages and exclusive ski resorts of Lech, St. Christoph, Stuben and Zürs. If you drive a ’beamer’ and like a label or two on your clothes then this is the location for you.
Niederau / Oberau
Set within the romantically named Wildschönau (derived from ’wild’ and ’beautiful’) area and close to the Kitzbühel ski area lies the picturesque resorts of Niederau and Oberau. In this truly unspoiled snowy corner of the Tyrol, you are afforded an opportunity to experience life and skiing at a very relaxed pace. Due to the variety of skiing levels catered for, the villages are particularly attractive to families although there is still quite a lively après-ski scene. The rural charm is enhanced by the availability of fresh milk and cheese from the nearby Käsealm dairy and the idyllic neighbouring churches and farmhouses. Niederau is most definitely a place to let cares and pretensions drift away, at least for a week.

Leysin (2800 inhabitants) enjoys an extraordinarily sunny location approx. 2 hours from Geneva. Villard de Lans
Villard de Lans is a traditional, lively village spread out on the foothills of the towering 2,285-m Grande Moucherolle, south of Grenoble. This friendly, outdoor-orientated resort is at the gateway to the only rocky mountain range in Vercors Regional Natural Park.
Courchevel 1850
Courchevel 1850 is part of the famous French ’Three Valleys’ ski area and joins three other adjacent villages (Courchevel 1650, Courchevel 1550, and Le Praz) in making up the Courchevel resort. 1850 is the largest of the villages and is the focal point of the entire area containing most of the shops and nightlife hotspots. 1850 has traditionally been a favoured spot of the Paris jet set but in recent years has seen an influx of wealthy Russians (one of which has a passing interest in a small football club in West London). Throw into the mix skiers from a host of other European countries and you get a village with a very cosmopolitan feel and flavour. In keeping with this international ambiance, 1850 has a nice selection of eateries and watering holes to cater for most tastes.

Engelberg

Igls
Igls with its 2200 inhabitants is situated in the mountains at an altitude of 900m, just 5km away from Innsbruck. As the Olympic Winter Games were held twice here (1964 and 1976), Igls is known as a winter sport resort all over the world. For the sporty visitors, Igls boasts a rich variety of options to choose from: Ski the immaculately groomed slopes and cross country ski tracks, take an exhilarating toboggan downhill ride, rush down the Olympic bobsled run, go for a spin on the natural ice skating rink, try your hand at Alpine curling and if that’s not enough how about a game of tennis or squash. And as a cultural center, many folkloric and cultural events take place in Igls and Innsbruck during the winter season.
Filzmoos
The idyllic village Filzmoos lies 1057m above sea level, at the foot of the 2454-metre high Bischofsmütze. 1350 inhabitants live in Filzmoos. Escape from everyday stress and Filzmoos can be a world full of holiday rest and relaxation in a beautiful nature.
Hopfgarten
If you are in search of a lovely town where you can pursue your outdoor hobbies and where there is scenic beauty everywhere you look, you can stop looking! Hopfgarten-Kelchsau is delightfully located in a wind-protected and fog free basin at the foot of the majestic "Hohe Salve" mountain, at an altitude of between 620 and 800m with 5300 inhabitants. Just one hour drive from Munich, Salzburg and Innsbruck, and easily accessible by bus, car and/or train, and because of its central location Hopfgarten-Kelchsau is an ideal outing base. It’s a very charming town with beautiful cobblestone square, narrow lanes, and a splendid baroque church.
Borovets
Borovets first began receiving skiers at the end of the 19th century but has really enjoyed seeing a spurt in popularity over the past few years. Skiing in Borovets is best suited to intermediates and ’rusty’ experts, with plenty of challenging red runs on offer. In recent years the resort has enjoyed large investment to try and bring it up to speed with other European resorts. The spin-off from this is that you now have a lively spot with a decent selection of hotels, bars and restaurants.
Lake Bohinj
Affording stunning vistas over the Julian Alps, Lake Bohinj is Slovenia’s largest Glacial lake and is almost as stunning as its close neighbour Lake Bled. Bohinj is close to the ski hills of Kobla and Vogel and offers easy access to the ski centre Soriška planina. Skiing is best suited to beginners and early intermediates, who’ll enjoy the pleasant runs and professional instruction. The après ski is quiet and largely restricted to the hotels.
Kandersteg
Kandersteg, with its 1130 inhabitants, lies 1200m above sea level, in the mountains and close to a skiing area. Kandersteg is a mountain village, which has preserved its idyllic character. Mountains, fresh air, numerous sporting possibilities and hospitality mean that holidays here are beneficial for body and soul. In winter Kandersteg is a white wonderland with its impressive mountain landscape.
Tignes
Along with Val d’Isère, Tignes (2,100m) forms part of the
Espace Killy, widely dubbed "the most beautiful ski area in the world". Tignes may be a purpose built resort but now new buildings are being built in the traditional Savoie style and existing buildings are getting a facelift. Cars are also banned from the centre of the main villages that make up Tignes (Val Claret, Le Lavachet and Tignes-le-Lac). A free bus services connects all Tignes villages up to midnight every day so getting around is easy.
Mieders
Mieders is 982m above sea level and has 1600 inhabitants. The little and traditional Tyrolean village in the mountains, at the beginning of the ‘Stubaital’ and is close to Serles. Have a romantic walk through the highest situated monastery of Europe ‘Maria Waldrast’ and after that enjoy a meal in the traditional monastery restaurant.
Hinterthiersee
On a plateau above the Thiersee valley and surrounded by forests and meadows lies Hinterthiersee, at an altitude of 860m and with 470 inhabitants. The picturesque, romantic mountain village is surrounded by a fascinating mountain panorama. Hinterthiersee is a sociable village which both seeks and values contact with its guests. You’ll certainly feel at home here.
Wagrain
Wagrain, lying 850m above sea level, has 2950 inhabitants. It is situated in the mountains, close to a river and a skiing area. Nestled between the dreamlike mountain slopes and alpine pastures of the ’Salzburger Sportwelt’ region, lies the beautiful area of Wagrain, a holiday destination where you can refuel, switch off and enjoy yourself. Amidst un-spoilt nature, mountains ideal for walking (there are 140km of walking and strolling pathways), numerous sights, natural spectacles, and cultural gems, it’s perfect for you to rest your mind and your soul.
Leutasch
Leutasch is Europe´s largest cross-country skiing area. Leutasch boasts a total of 200km of classic trails and 80km of skating trails for all ability levels. Experienced cross-country skiers will love the 15km of un-groomed tracks in the Gaistal valley.
Galtür
This picturesque, typically Tyrolean village is the shy sister to its bigger sibling Ischgl. Don’t let this put you off however as Galtür has its own unique charm and personality waiting to be discovered. Linked to Ischgl by a free ski bus. Galtür is the choice of many families and improver skiers who like the option of a joint ski area without the rowdy nightlife.
St. Gallenkirch

Fuschl am See
Fuschl am See, with 1323 inhabitants, is a pretty village in the ’Salzburger Land’ region, and lies 670m above sea level, directly on the coast of the Fuschl lake. The Fuschl Lake is certainly one of the nicest lakes in the ’Salzkammergut’ area and due to its location close to Salzburg; Fuschl is an ideal starting point for excursions to ’Mozart’s city’.

And, indeed: the specific geographic location of Salzburg in the middle of lakes and mountains of the Salzkammergut and the impressive beauty of the architecture give the city a unique charm. Renaissance and Baroque buildings courtyards and narrow streets and the imposing fortress’ High Salzburg ’ are a unique urban ensemble. His global reputation owes Salzburg Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, who was born in 1756. The nice cafes and restaurants offer relaxation and hospitality.

The local slopes are easily accessible from the village while nearby Zell am See can be reached by the local bus service and all the slopes are covered on one lift pass.

Pichl bei Schladming
Pichl, with its 900 inhabitants, lies 800m above sea level and is located in the mountains, next to a river and the skiing area. The westernmost location of Styria is in the centre of the Dachstein-Tauern region, which boasts the most beautiful mountainous landscapes in Austria. Altenmarkt - Zauchensee

Blatten-Belalp
Blatten-Belalp lies 1322m above sea level, and is situated, with its 350 inhabitants, in the mountain. If you follow the steep, twisting road from Naters, along the picturesque Rebbergen Mountains, you will reach Blatten, a small village which nestles delightfully in the sunny niche of the mountain crest. Blatten is worth discovering, because with its dense concentration of timber houses, in the middle of which the small white church stands out, it has remained a typical mountain village, which despite modernity and progress has maintained its homely atmosphere.
Mittersill
Mittersill is 789m above sea level in the heart of the national parks’ Hohe Tauern ’. The town has 5,500 residents and offers magnificent mountain scenery.
Prägraten
At an altitude of 1312m, Prägraten lies in the mountains with 1300 inhabitants, at the heart of the ’Hohe Tauern’ national park. Fieberbrunn
Situated on the sunny Streuböden plateau (790m), the town of Fieberbrunn comfortably crosses the divide from traditional Tyrolean mountain village to a modern sports and holiday centre. Never adverse to change, the town only gained its present title in the 14th century when a visiting princess was cured of a sickness when she took a drink from a local spring, hence ’fever spring’, a statue now marks the event. No doubt the princess was also enlivened by the magnificent alpine views afforded by the town’s position, particularly from the ’Hochhörndlhutte’ high on the Hochhörndl Mountain. Fieberbrunn is perhaps now most famous for its annual snowboarding competition in January and its ’Scheedorado’ (Snowdorado) Ski area.
Lienz

Seefeld
Tyrolean hospitality is renowned and nowhere is this more evident than in Seefeld. Well, they’ve got used to welcoming international guests here, twice hosting the cross-country ski events for the Winter Olympics and also beginning a key venue on the Nordic sports calendar. The town is situated on an elevated plateau only half an hour’s drive from the international airport in Innsbruck and very near the German border, saving the visitor from any cumbersome transfer worries. Vent is 1900m above sea level and has 158 inhabitants.
Méribel Valley
The Méribel Valley consists of a total of 14 villages, all located downhill from the lively resort of Méribel itself (1,450m) and its neighbour, Méribel-Mottaret (1,700m). Méribel has a lively centre full of shops and bars. Méribel-Mottaret, a newer resort and major lift centre, is located further up the valley while the quieter Brides-les-Bains is in the valley below Méribel connected by gondola.
Rauris

At 1000m Gaschurn has 1318 inhabitants, embedded in fascinating mountain scenery, and is directly on the ski area and in the expanses of the Silvretta, one in Gaschurn Hochmontafon which becomes the most attractive tourist communities in Vorarlberg. Despite a large number of high-quality housing the village has lost none of its charm and tradition.
Les Ménuires
While Les Menuires may be a purpose built resort and less picturesque than some of its 3 Valley neighbours, you’ll find that the range of quality runs are all if not more than you’d expect in a world class resort. At an altitude of 1800m, Les Menuires is guaranteed plenty of snow throughout the season.
Val Thorens
Val Thorens is Europe’s highest ski resort providing skiers with fantastic snow and skiing conditions all season long from December right the way through to May. The village is located right at the foot of the slopes so no matter where your bed is you can roll out of it in the morning and be out on your skis in no time. The entire resort is pedestrianised (except for loading and unloading stops) making for a relaxing resort and peaceful snow covered picturesque streets. Val Thorens is located in the southerly part of the 3 Valleys or Les Trois Vallees giving direct access to one of the most expansive skiing areas in the world. The village itself, while purpose built, is picturesque, cosy, and welcoming to come back to after a long day on the slopes.
Lofer
Lofer is 640m above sea level in Saalachtal. The small village with 1,800 inhabitants is has a family-friendly and welcoming atmosphere and is the perfect starting point for many excursions. Enjoy an evening in the pedestrian zone of the place!
Valloire
At the foot of the famous Galibier Pass, Valloire unveils its many charms throughout its 17 hamlets. The resort has managed to reconcile harmonious building development with the lifestyle of its permanent residents while respecting its breath-taking natural surroundings.
Obertauern
At a village height of nearly 1,750m, Obertauern is one of the most snow-safe resorts in Austria. Despite expectations, this is no purpose-built resort - Obertauern lies on a mountain pass in the Tauern mountain-range and was once a vital post station on the Salzburg-Villach route.
Today’s traffic now takes a much easier route, by Autobahn and tunnel, and Obertauern dedicates itself to hospitality and winter sports.
Zell am See
Most resorts are very seasonal and mostly winter locations, which attempt to extract as much revenue in the ski season as is possible in order to make hay while the snow falls - so to speak. Zell am See is unlike others in that it is a 12 months of the year resort on account of its near idyllic setting at the bottom of a glacier and resting on a delicious alpine lake. ’See’ by the way is the German word for lake - hence Zell by the lake. Zell am See is coupled with Kaprun and Schüttdorf and together the conurbation is the perfect backdrop for some summer or winter loving folks to enjoy themselves and each other!
Madonna di Campiglio
Set High in the Dolomites, Madonna di Campiglio has an excellent snow record, and is the resort of choice of the Italian glitterati. Although offering plenty to suit all proficiencies, skiing in Madonna is best suited to intermediates and above with plenty of spectacular cruising runs to enjoy. The après ski is relaxed and laid back with a plethora of smart boutiques, bars, cafes and restaurants, all with an authentic Italian flavour, to choose from.
Klosters
At 1206m above sea level and with 4000 inhabitants, Klosters is situated in the mountains close to a skiing area. Found right at the back of the ’Prättigau’, Klosters is well-known for its pleasing climate and is a sporting and health resort in one. The village has preserved its original character, and for lone-travelers and families alike, it is a refreshing resort with varied possibilities for sporting activities and cultural enrichment.
Avoriaz
Avoriaz is a very special high altitude resort set amidst a backdrop of spectacular mountain scenery. Located at 1,800m, Avoriaz is renowned for its great snow record all season long and its enviable amount of exciting slopes to explore. The resort is nicely compact and completely pedestrianised. Everyone gets around either on foot or on picturesque horse drawn sleighs (for a small charge). Mallnitz
Mallnitz which is 1200m above sea level is set in the National Park “Hohe Tauern”. It is an idyllic place with 1014 inhabitants but has retained its village character and is very proud of it. Well maintained hotels and guesthouses look after guests, the hiking trails are great if you are looking to experience nature and the cable cars/chair lifts make it easy to reach the summit. For culture there is the Pro Musica Mallnitz which has musical events on throughout the year.
Waidring
Waidring is in a wide valley between the ‘Steinplatte’ and the ‘Loferer Steinberge’ mountains.
Chamonix Valley

Saalbach-Hinterglemm
Home of the now famous "Ski Circus", Saalbach/Hinterglemm is the merged product of a number of resort towns in this Salzburg region including Saalbach, Hinterglemm, Vorderglemm and Leogang. The result is over 200km of marked piste and very attractive skiing. With over 50 drag lifts, chairs, gondolas etc. at your disposal, capable of transporting 64,000 skiers up a myriad of hills, you will be no doubt wondering if the skiers might be getting in the way of all those lifts.
Alpe d’Huez
Alpe d’Huez prides itself on its sunny location in the Grandes Rousses mountains of the Southern French Alps. It’s a vibrant, modern resort with plenty on offer both on and off the slopes. The ski area links the villages of Alp d’Huez, Vaujany, Oz En Oisans, Villard-Reculas, La Garde and Auris-en-Osian and is the fifth largest skiing region in France with 249km of piste. The rural, friendly holiday resort of Uttendorf lies where the Stubachtal valley rises to meet the white glacial mountains. Especially valued because of its central and easy-to-reach location (between Kitzbühel and Zell am See), in the holiday region of the ’Hohe Tauern’ national park. Scheffau
Scheffau is 752m above sea level and has 1100 inhabitants, located right in the mountains, by a lake and close to a skiing area.

Les Carroz d’Araches

Hasliberg

Nature can be enjoyed in all its glory here, for Sillian has remained protected from mass tourism and the landscape around Sillian has remained intact. Here, the young and the old will find ideal conditions for a winter holiday in the heart of the Alps, surrounded by the Lienz Dolomites, the Carinthian Kamm and the ’Villgrater’ mountains
Berwang
Amid the Zugspitz area is Berwang which is 1,336m above sea level. The resort is sunny and has a beautiful countryside just a few kilometres behind the German / Austrian border. Even Germany’s most famous Alpine peaks, the imposing Felskoloss the Zugspitze, are the mountain peaks just beyond Berwang. The altitude makes it idyllic, and the mountain village has a health resort.
Pfunds
Pfunds is located in the Tiroler Oberland at 970m above sea level and has 2600 residents. The village is in the midst of powerful mountains, it is a paradise for hikers and climbers, also because of the adjacent Dreitausender. Pfunds is also in the midst of the internationally known ski resorts: Silvretta Arena Samnaun Ischgl, ski Reschenpass, Skidimension Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis and Bad Scuol.
La Rosière 1850
A veritable natural balcony with full southern exposure, La Rosière 1850 overlooks the Tarentaise Valley and is located near the famous Mont-Blanc and Vanoise mountain ranges. The site’s beauty, charming old stone houses with slate roofs, relaxed atmosphere and peace and quiet make this village an ideal place for family holidays.
Serfaus
Serfaus is situated in the mountains, at an altitude of 1427m, and has 1024 inhabitants. Bad Gastein / Bad Hofgastein
The resorts of Bad Gastein and Bad Hofgastein are set in the Gasteinertal ski area. This is one of the largest ski areas in Austria offering access to 200kms of ski slopes split over four separate areas. Both villages offer access to excellent spa facilities.
Bad Hofgastein would be the prettier of the two with more traditional austrian buildings and a pedestrianised centre. It would also be the quieter of the two resorts for après ski.
There is so much to do in either area that it will be hard to take advantage of all the extra facilities these resorts offer when off the slopes. There are natural spas, springs and baths - all of which are great for relaxation after a hard ski day.
All levels are taken care of in the area with nice gentle slopes and nursery runs for beginners to learn on and eventually advance to the many intermediate slopes in the region. For the more advanced there are more challenging runs to take advantage of while cross country skiers are also catered for in the area. Each area offers a mix for boarders from snowparks with half pipes to terrain parks with rails and tabletops.
Savognin

Kranjska Gora

Piesendorf
Piesendorf is 800m above sea level and has 3300 inhabitants. Located in the mountains, by a skiing area, which mean you can enjoy the advantages of a place in the countryside and at the same time, the benefits of the Europa-sportregion Kaprun-Zell am See.
Grindelwald
Grindelwald – is one of the world’s most beautiful region. This friendly glacier village has about 5000 inhabitants and is located at 1,057m above sea level, embedded in a pristine Alpine landscape. The impressive and world-famous mountain backdrop is like a stage design for Grindelwald’s appearance as a holiday destination. The main attraction Grindelwald is the extensive network of over 300km of walking and hiking mountain trails - in the winter over 200km of slopes available for ski and snowboard. All this - and much more - the village has to offer.
Crans Montana
Set on a broad shelf facing south across the Rhone Valley, Crans-Montana is really two separate towns that merged in the 1960’s to become this world-renowned resort. Famous for its pure mountain air, Crans Montana today is a large, cosmopolitan resort with plenty of things to do.
Flaine
Flaine is the gate to one of the biggest ski and snowboard areas in France, aptly named ’Le Grand Massif’, offering access to 265km of slopes. The ski and snowboard area is totally connected, boasting a modern high-performance system.
Reit im Winkl
The mountain and ski resort Reit im Winkl one of the leading ski resorts and tourist havens. It is 695m in height, in the middle of the Bavarian Alps.
Fusch an der Glocknerstraße
The nature reserve Fusch an der Gloßglocknerstrasse lies 805m above sea level and has 800 inhabitants. Every year, more than a million visitors make the ’Glocknerstrasse’ an excursion destination of extraordinary status. Fusch is rich in plants and animals, particularly in the ’Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe’ area, where marmots can be seen. Varied points of interest, information plaques and educational walks accompany the visitor to the mountain peaks. La Clusaz
La Clusaz offers all the rustic charm of a typical mountain village, attractively laid-out around its central feature, the church tower. Val di Fassa
Val di Fassa is part of the Superski Dolomiti region, the largest ski area in the world with over 1200km of slopes. Rather than being just one resort, Val di Fassa is actually made up of nine adjacent smaller resorts all situated in the 20km long Fassa Valley. The two largest resorts are Campitello and Canazei and this is where all of our accommodation is located. This region is steeped in history and is renowned for its stunning scenery as well as its fantastic skiing. In years gone by Val di Fassa was part of the kingdom of the legendary King Laurino. The famous king was the guardian of this enchanted area, where even today a fire is lit every evening at dusk giving origin to the unforgettable phenomenon of light called Enrosadira. Today, tourism is the principal industry of Val Di Fassa and the results are tangible. There is a large network of paths and walks, endless opportunities for sport and relaxation, tradition and culture, hospitality and fun, and nine ski resorts with 200km of pistes. Hart im Zillertal
Hart (550m above sea level) belongs to the ’Fügen-Hochfügen-Zillertal’ holiday region and lies at the entrance to the Zillertal valley, just 7km away from the motorway. The Fügen-Hochfügen-Zillertal region is a huge skiing arena with a total of 480km of prepared pistes. The whole skiing area reaches up to an altitude of 3286m (on the Tuxer glacier). Cafés, restaurants, magical wooden cabins and inns invite you to linger here.
Berchtesgaden
Berchtesgaden’s ski slopes are not among the largest in the Alps, however they can easily accommodate everyone; from beginners to very competitive skiers and boarders. Good levels of snow are virtually guaranteed between mid-December and spring thanks to state-of-the art snow-making equipment

Bormio
Originally built as a Spa town, Bormio has grown to earn a deserved place amongst the most popular ski resorts in Italy. Skiing in Bormio is best suited to intermediates although beginners will find the ski schools excellent. While the après ski isn’t as lively as in other resorts, there’s no shortage of atmospheric bars, cafes and restaurants dotted around its beautiful medieval streets!
Neustift
Neustift nestles in the inner part of the Stubai valley at an altitude of 1000m above sea level. Characterised by its picturesque scenery and its typical Tyrolean atmosphere Neustift is an attractive and friendly village with 4000 inhabitants. It offers an excellent range of skiing for all standards and also all year round skiing at the nearby Stubai glacier resort.
Flims - Waldhaus
Flims, health resort and winter sports ground in the Grisons, at the foot of the stone Flims (2697m) at 1080m above sea level. This unique landscape between the romantic Rhine Gorge and the preliminary glacier is characterised by mountain meadows, forests, mountain lakes and marsh. All this and the very mild climate in the region make it a perfect place for hiking, mountain climbing, skiing, snowboarding, swimming and adventure. The area of the Alps Arena is embedded in the old area of Romansch culture Surselva. This has many scenic and cultural attractions. The unique, terraced situation of Flims is a natural catastrophe that happened about 10,000 years, at the end of the Ice Age. With the prehistoric landslide were 15,000 million cubic meters of limestone rock which ripped into the depths of Films.
Söll
Söll (without the dots) is the German word for ’should’ and we recommend that holidaymakers looking at making a trip to Austria this winter should not let this resort slip outside their radar-screens. Söll alongside its neighbour Itter form the very heart of the Austrian ski resorts and are also part of the Ski Welt system with access to 250km of marked piste via 94 lifts or chairs. At the nucleus of Söll is the church with a Russian-like onion as its dome and like an onion the night life in Söll will make you cry (with happiness) when you peel at it since the fun and the buzz are most certainly to be found at this alpine location.
Lermoos
The tallest mountain in Germany is called the Zugspitze and is part of the famous Zugspitz glacier, which has enveloped much of the German and Austrian Alps. Lermoos is truly an Alpine ski resort and those of you who want to get some experience in the Alps could do a lot worse than here. Popular with Irish and UK holidaymakers, Lermoos is a typical resort in the Tirol region of Austria - steeped in tradition and with a ski infrastructure second to none. Lermoos is part of a chain of towns including Berwang, Bichelbach, Biberwier and Ehrwald, which are all covered by the same lift pass and easily reached by regular free ski bus or train. All the towns in this chain offer a fantastic Tyrolean skiing experience and at Euro friendly not wallet burning prices.
Livigno
Located high in the Italian Alps, Livigno is a mecca for those seeking great skiing and lively après ski. Skiing in Livigno is best suited for beginners and intermediates with plenty of long, wide-open slopes on which to hone your skills. A further selling point for this resort is its tax free status, with plenty of bargains to be procured in the many shops.
Unken
The village of Unken lies in the ski resort of Lofer. Après ski is quiet and cosy.
Wengen
The Swiss holiday resort at the foot of the imposing Eiger - Mönch - Jungfrau mountain range in the heart of the Bernese Oberland lies 1274m above sea level and has 1400 residents. Wengen is well known for its pure mountain air. Lying on a sheltered terrace facing southwest, Wengen guarantees many hours of sunshine. Many guests coming to Wengen, one of the few villages in Switzerland not reached by road, find the tranquility they are looking for all year. Wengen is also especially attractive for families with its pure mountain air and lack of noise from traffic. Wengen’s old, well looked after wooden chalets give the village the charm and character of a typical mountain village. Although close to nature, Wengen offers its guests all modern comforts.
Flachau
Flachau, lying at 925m above sea level with a population of 2600, is situated in the mountains, in the heart of the connected Salzburg Sportwelt Amadé ski area.
La Plagne
La Plagne is one of the first purpose built French ski resorts. The first skiers stayed here in 1961. The resort is high altitude and comprises a total of 10 self contained ski centres or "stations" with Plagne 1800 (no prizes on guesses how high that is), Plagne Centre (1970m), Belle Plagne (2050m) and Plagne Soleil (2050m) being the main ones. Each village hosts its own ski school, restaurants, bars and shops. While the entire resort is purpose built, most of the new buildings are in traditional style so you’ll know you’re in a Alpine ski resort. The skiing area available to you can only be described as vast with all villages being connected by gondolas and ski buses. La Plagne prides itself on offering one of the most modern ski lift systems in the world.
Les Deux Alpes
The resort of Les Deux Alpes, along with its neighbour Alpe d’Huez are considered the best resorts in the French Dauphine region. Occupieing an enviable position, affording stunning views and offing snow sure and varied pistes, its no wonder its a firm favorite on the British market.
Hochgurgl im Ötztal
Here in Hochgurgl, the place with the best snow guarantee in the Alps, there’s something special about the skiing possibilities right on your doorstep. Obergurgl-Hochgurgl offers its guests free pistes and free lifts without waiting times. Snow is guaranteed from the middle of November until beginning of May, a must for fair-weather skiers! Saint Lary Soulan

Ramsau am Dachstein

Meiringen
The village of Meiringen (8200 inhabitants) is situated at an altitude of 595m above sea level in the heart of Switzerland. The Bernese Oberland is well known for its unspoiled nature, the wide range of sports available, for fabulous skiing, hiking and climbing - and unforgettable excursions.
Les Arcs
Les Arcs comprises four modern resorts: Arc 1600, Arc 1800, Arc 1950 and Arc 2000 each with its own distinctive flavour. Arc 1800 is the centre of the action: this is where the lifts converge and has very lively après ski. Arc 1950 is the newest addition and is surrounded by pine trees at the base of the Aiguille Rouge peak. All four have great snow records and skiing and boarding for every level. Its south facing disposition means sun and the views of the sun setting behind Mont Blanc are astounding. And, when the sun is gone there’s is always plenty going on.
Canillo
Close to Andorra la Vella (the duty-free shopping paradise) lies the town of Canillo. The past few years have seen substantial investment in new hotels and lift infrastructure and Canillo is now a world class skiing destination. The new Gondola connects Canillo with the Soldeu/El Tarter ski area. Whether it is skiing, drinking, shopping or adventure you’re looking for, Canillo has it.
Serre Chevalier
Serre Chevalier is a large valley between the Lautaret and Briançon passes, lying open on its southern side. Its 13 villages and hamlets, which blend tradition and modernity, are scattered across the valley. The resort also offers a wide range of activities for the whole family. Serre Chevalier lies at the foot of the most beautiful peaks of the E’crins National Park, an area which is bathed in light. The air and water are pure, the sky is blue and the sun shines more than 300 days a year.
Biberwier
Biberwier with its 610 inhabitants lies 989m above sea level. The small valley within the Zugspitzarena has a lot to offer the active visitor, especially in winter.
Font Romeu
A well-known health resort located in the heart of the Catalan Pyrenees, Font-Romeu, enjoys high levels of sunshine during the year. Visitors appreciate the resort’s friendly, family atmosphere. At an altitude of 1,800m you can enjoy cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, or set off to explore the local heritage sites.
Kaltenbach
Kaltenbach is connected to the Hochfugen-Hochzillertail ski area and has 155km of prepared runs. There is 2 eight person gondola’s which means hardly any wait time.
Neukirchen
The village has 4200 inhabitants and is situated in the Bavarian Forest in Eastern Bavaria near the Czech Boarder 400 to 600m above the sea level. It is well known for its beautiful Baroque church of pilgrimage.
Kirchberg
Kirchberg is located in the heart of the ’Kitzbühel Ski Circus’. It’s a picturesque village with a good selection of après ski activities and nightlife. You will have access to enough slopes to satisfy everyone making this a fantastic destination for those looking to ski the area but not pay the higher costs involved in a stay in Kitzbühel.
While just over the mountain from Kitzbühel itself, the town has quickly metamorphosed from quiet little sis’ into a ski Mecca that rivals its more established neighbour in slope accessibility and raucous après-ski entertainment. It attracts a variety of holidaymakers from couples to groups and families. Everyone is taken care of here!
The world famous Hahnenkamm Race Week is only one of the many ski and boarding related festivals held in this region each season, so there’ll be plenty to drag you away from the piste or, perhaps more importantly, the bar during your stay.
Hochpillberg
Pill Mountain is located in a central location in the Inn Valley. The village is 535m high and is an ideal starting point for trips and excursions of all kinds.
Ehrwald
Ehrwald is pretty little resort which has retained its rustic unhurried village atmosphere. It’s an excellent base for outdoor activities such as skiing, snowboarding, alpine curling, tobogganing, sleigh rides, winter hiking and snow shoe hiking.
Obergurgl
Tyroleans have an extreme, bordering on insane obsession with skiing and scenic views. Well that’s the only reason that we can come up with for the settlement of the furthest reaches of the Oetz valley, high and we mean high, right on the Italian border. Obergurgl (1,930m) is the ultimate expression of their compulsion, the highest parish in Austria nestling at the end of the valley and human habitation. This altitude ensures that snow cover is superb throughout the season. The town itself exudes an air of civilized tradition at odds with the often-harsh physical environment surrounding it. The Wurmkogl Mountain (3,080m), which towers above the village, commands views deep into the Italian Dolomites. Skiers have been coming to these most rewarding of pistes for generations, ensuring the area’s place in the folklore of the sport.
Le Corbier
The resort of Le Corbier is located in the heart of the Les Sybelles ski area, the 4th largest ski area in France, which offers visitors more than 310km of ski slopes for all abilities. As the ultimate pedestrianized resort, (you can literally set off from your accommodation with your skis already on), it provides comfort and safety for all, particularly for families.
Davos
Davos is one of the most popular ski destinations in Switzerland and is 1560m in height. Aschau bei Kirchberg, with it’s 900 inhabitants, is situated in the mountains at the end of a romantic valley, by the river Aschauer Ache and lies 800m above sea level. It is in a peaceful location linked with the Kitzbühel Ski Area.
